#19: Linlithgow Golf Club: On the tee with the Lady Captain!

#19: Linlithgow Golf Club: On the tee with the Lady Captain!

Linlithgow Golf Club is a special place, nestled between the Cockleroi Hill and the town. As the birth place of Mary Queen of Scots, Linlithgow the town has a remarkable palace at its centre. I arrived midday and knew the course was busy until later in the afternoon, so I went to see the palace first.

Linlithgow Palace is situated in a beautiful park set beside a peaceful loch: fit for a queen! It was here on December 8,[..]

#18: Culcrieff Golf Course: Golf with the Mountains Calling ….

#18: Culcrieff Golf Course: Golf with the Mountains Calling ....

Culcrieff Golf Course is the course at The Crieff Hydro Resort. It is an 18 hole course now, but the additional 9 holes were only added several years ago. Whilst the new 9 are strong, the old 9 (the back 9) remain firm favourites. Basically, Culcrieff is an outstanding holiday course offering gorgeous views over the mountains and the surrounding countryside.

David and I just could not resist getting out for a round[..]

#17: Pitlochry Golf Club: The Switzerland of Scotland!

Pitlochry Golf Club is one that I have wanted to play for a long time. It’s a club with a great reputation, and it did not disappoint! It hosts the Highland Amateur Open every year and has done since its inception in 1909. So the likes of Bobby Jones, Harry Vardon and Tommy Armour have played these amazing fairways: I felt inspired!
As you can see, it was a gorgeous afternoon. Here is the view up the first...

#16: Blair Atholl Golf Club: Great Golf by the Garry!

#16: Blair Atholl Golf Club: Great golf by the Garry!

Blair Atholl Golf Club is nestled between the banks of the River Garry and the Inverness Rail line. It’s a lovely course with spectacular views over the surrounding mountains, with its most impressive aspect being out towards Ben Vrackie. It was another stunning day, and after meeting a real ‘Atholl Highlander’ I thought I had best come up and see what Blair Atholl was all about.
The golf club is excellent and th[..]

#15: Strathtay Golf Club: Pure, Dead Brilliant!

#15: Strathtay Golf Club: Pure, Dead Brilliant!
Strathtay Golf Club was recommended to me in June by the group of ladies who work for Perth Council measuring all the golf courses to ensure their accuracy. (Now, there is a job I could do!) When we met them at St. Fillians, they made me promise to get to Strathtay, and I am so glad I did. It's just delightful: quirky and fun.
Strathtay is a wee course a few miles from Aberfeldy, tucked deep in the glens. While its not hidden, it is definitel[..]

#14: Callander Golf Club: A Gem in the Trossachs!

#14: Callander Golf Club: A Gem in the Trossachs!

The day was so lovely here in central Scotland that I felt the words of John Muir speaking to me, 'The mountains [and the golf course] are calling, I must go!' Okay, so I changed the words a bit, but I still heard the call of both on this glorious day. I think that is why I ended up at Callander Golf Club.

Callander is a breathtakingly, spectacular course on the outskirts of the town of the same name. It sits on the edge of the L[..]

#13: Dunkeld & Birnam: The Best Kept Secret in Golf!
I had put this course on my itinerary because I have a special place in my heart for Dunkeld. And after my round, that place just got a little larger! This golf course is amazing, and the views are breathtaking. How blessed was I that I got to play it on such a spectacular evening ....
The golf course is easy to find by following the signs out of the city. It’s located up the hill, nestling peacefully on the plateau above. The[..]

#12: Crieff’s Dornock Course: A Delight with my Daughter

As life gets seemingly busier, finding time for golf is a challenge for us all. But when your daughter asks, “When are you going to play golf with me, Mum?!” It was sweet music to my ears and the question I have been waiting all year to answer! Moreover, that is why this ‘gift of golf’ is so brilliant: it keeps giving me unexpected joys.
We decided that Tuesday evening after school we would go up a[..]

#11 Peebles Golf Club, Crown of the Town!

#11: Peebles Golf Club: Crown of the Town!

Friendly, fabulous and fun are the best words to describe Peebles Golf Club, on the course, in the clubhouse and from its lovely members. We arrived late on Saturday afternoon, without a pre-booked tee time and with the clouds darkening overhead. We really were not sure what we were going to find. But it was an unexpectedly warm welcome to an unexpectedly brilliant golf course....

We had chosen Peebles as it was not too far and it had bee[..]

#10 Haddington: Jewel on the Tyne

#10: Haddington Golf Club, Jewel on the Tyne

Somehow the original blog for Haddington Golf Club seems to have been swallowed up into the ‘ether’! I had not realised it until now and it does not seem to have been saved anywhere either .... So here it is again: (And it’s even better ‘remembering’ it as it was such a special course!!)
